1. What is tetracaine used for?
Tetracaine eye drops are used to numb the eye before surgery, certain tests, or procedures. The eye drops are used to prevent pain during the procedure. Tetracaine belongs to the group of medicines called local anesthetics. It works by blocking the pain signals at the nerve endings in the eye.

2. Is tetracaine stronger than lidocaine?
Tetracaine chemicals, a long-acting amino-ester, is more lipophilic than lidocaine raw powder, concentrating in the stratum corneum of the epidermis, where it slowly diffuses. Its duration is thus prolonged and systemic uptake is limited. As a result, LT combination produces rapid and durable topical anesthesia.

3. What is tetracaine made from?

Tetracaine chemical is an ester derivative of PABA in which a butyl chain replaces one of the hydrogens on the p-amino group. The drug has approximately 10 times the toxicity and potency of procaine powder.
